As we think about the last few days before end of the year assessment, this is a great resource to review skills. I think a great way to use this would be to have students cut apart each square, work the problem out and then make their own calendar. (I'm afraid our "smart" kiddos will just go through and count to "solve" the equation if they do it as is."

Some of you may have heard of the raps and chants Flocabulary has to offer for Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. However, the free version only has about 5 videos. FOCUS 2016: Week 1 Review

Well it is the 2nd week of 2016. Last week I wrote about how in 2016 I was going to take a more F.O.C.U.S. approach to several aspects of my life. I think I did pretty well for the 1st week.

Week of January 3rd - 9th: 
F - Family = Set Up a trust building time with Erik.
               *  We took about an hour on Tuesday night to just talk. It was very good. Sometimes I think                    we get so caught up in doing our own thing that we forget what we are missing out on if                      we have a partner. However, I think it is important that Erik and I improve our                                      communication in 2016. 
O - Others = Help a friend organize her building. (At least setup a time.)
               * Well this one didn't happen this week. However, we did spend about an hour together this                   week shopping for artificial flowers. She would love to make flower arrangements as a                         small business and the flower stems were half off this week at Hobby Lobby. 
C - Christ  = Create a Plan for the after school program with games/crafts around the Trial & Death of Stephen
                * Check: We had a great after school program with the kiddos painting their own forgive                       rock and throwing "rock" beanbags at a forgiveness heart.   
U - You = Work on earning Swagbucks to make a purchase and drink more water.
                * Check: I think I did pretty well with drinking more water. I only had a head ache on                              Tuesday. I am still working on earning Swagbucks. 
S - Service = Email Encouragement Responses
                      * Check: I emailed 3 people. It was super easy and quick.

FOCUS 2016

As the New Year starts, I plan to take our preacher's idea/theme for our church and carry it to all areas of my life. In 2016, I plan to FOCUS my attention. I have said so many times in 2015, we need a game plan. We need a focus/action steps. From the sermon on Sunday, I now feel I can create FOCUS in my life. I plan to use this blog as a way to keep up with how everything is going and "stay" FOCUS.
